Welcome

My name is Gabriela Torres

I'm an artist and I have a PhD in Drawing at the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Lisbon. In 2024, I founded Atelier Artístico Aeminium, where I teach drawing lessons.

My BA in Drawing (minor in Preservation and Heritage) is also from the Faculty of Fine Arts (University of Lisbon). My PhD's area of specialization focuses on 18th and 19th century academic figure drawing and photography of that period.

I was the director of Atelier de Arte Realista do Porto from 2022 to 2024. I have participated in over 30 solo and group exhibitions. I also have a MSc in Dentistry, by the Faculty of Medicine from the University of Coimbra, having stopped practicing permanently in 2013, to devote myself exclusively to the visual arts.

About me

Dentistry has given me in-depth knowledge about the human body, through the hands-on use of dissection and the theoretical foundations learned in anatomy classes.

A great part of my research is carried out at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Lisbon, with a scholarship from the national funding agency for science, research and technology (FCT).

In addition to being an artist and researcher, I am part of the organization of the Colóquio Expressão Múltipla and the "5 Minutes of Drawing" event, both at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Lisbon.
